February makes us think of relationships mostly because the commercial marketing system has done its job to get our attention. Let’s go with it. Our relationships inform our lives in many ways, so let’s talk about relationships and how they work in your life. I am referring here to all relationships: parental, child, sibling, extended family, friend, colleague, mentor, lover, spouse, partner, pets, etc. Most people you encounter will present opportunities to choose grace. You do not have to know these individuals, but if you are interacting with them in any way – it’s a moment for each of you to choose how to approach the other. For example, we all have those times when we feel frustrated, tired, or angry when dealing with other people, whether it’s the person or the situation. Or we may not be our best selves in certain situations. What if our best self isn’t so wonderful in the first place? On the other hand, you know those days when someone gives you a smile or holds the door for you and simply says “Hello” adding a bit of sparkle to your day? That is a moment of grace. Sometimes it’s as simple as someone doing their job well – so much appreciation for that! Not every interaction with another person is a soul contract, but those encounters may show up in your Akashic Records anyway. More on that another time. Now let’s talk about soul contracts, which are agreements we make with other souls before we incarnate in order to support our spiritual growth. You plan it, with the help of divine guidance, and know what the other soul(s) is helping you to understand. I said understand. I didn’t say exactly how your soul contract person would help you learn or grow. Not everything is planned or written, and it is definitely not all set in stone. I do not want to breeze through or make light of anyone’s suffering or trauma or say, “You chose it.” It’s more complex than that. For instance, if your soul would like to better understand the concept of acceptance, in its many forms, you will have contracts with other souls/people who will help you experience acceptance in shadow and in light, meaning feeling accepted and unaccepted. You will experience acceptance from many people and in many ways, always spiraling back to you and letting you choose to learn and level up. The lesson may take one lifetime or multiple lifetimes to complete or master. Many of the people you are in relationship with will have a soul contract with you. Do you recall the sense of knowing someone upon just meeting them or feeling immediately comfortable with someone? Soul contracts aren’t all soft, fluffy, and filled with joy though. Who challenges you the most? Who makes you angry or creates doubt? Who broke your heart? If it gives you the opportunity for expansion – reflection, growth, greater understanding, and becoming a better version of you – soul contract. Just as those relationships in your life that bring you support, love, safety, comfort, trust are also soul contracts. Whether the results of relationships and soul contracts are good, bad, wonderful, or painful, your contracts provide the experiences needed for your personal soul growth. They are here for you, and you are here for them to make choices that lead you to your divine potential which in turn lends itself to your true power.
