Hello! Do you recall me sharing the infamous words, “What 2x4 did the universe hit you over the head with?” Life has a way of catching us off guard. Last month, I found myself unexpectedly tumbling down the stairs right after finishing a live podcast reading. I was in high spirits—feeling good and deeply appreciative. Then suddenly, without tripping or missing a step, I pitched forward, crashing onto the hard floor below, knee down and face first. As I lay there, a profound thought surged through me—a fear, a known, irreversible truth about my future. Reflecting on this latest catastrophe, I’ve come to understand a few things: A Message Demanding Attention: This fall wasn’t just a physical event; it was a message of release, demanding my attention in no uncertain terms. Guardian Angels on Duty: Miraculously, despite the severity of the fall, my guardian angels were there. I escaped without any fractures or breaks. My knee is painful, swollen, and bruised but intact. A Call for Broader Awareness: This incident isn’t just about safely navigating stairs; it’s a reminder to consider and pay attention to the broader context of my life and surroundings. Supportive Friends: In my moment of need, friends arrived. Their presence was a comforting reminder of the strength and power of community. The Universe’s Persistent Nudge: This fall was a clear, persistent nudge from the universe, urging me to pay closer attention and listen deeply to the messages around me. It was also a catalyst for releasing more deeply thoughts, limitations, and people no longer in alignment with my highest good.
Why am I sharing this? To remind you that even in difficult moments, there’s an opportunity for deeper understanding and even gratitude. I’m grateful for the intervention and care of my guardian angels. Despite being banged up and unable to walk Leo, much to his dismay, I am fine. I even indulged in reading a book for pleasure — a rare gift! Our journey toward self-awareness and understanding is never-ending. For me, graciously accepting help has always been a challenge. Yet, this year, I’ve been gifted with multiple “2x4 moments” that have encouraged me to allow, accept, and even ask for help. This, for me, is growth.
