Hello – I hope this finds you well and hopefully getting outside for fresh air and sunshine when possible! The topic of Ancestors has been flowing about lately. In March, I experienced a trauma release and clear realization. My hope is that it may be helpful for you as well. I realized that everything is about safety even hope and love. All the pain in the world – economic, cultural, social, racial, gender-based - is about people wanting to feel safe. When individuals or groups of people do not feel safe, they react in various ways. Apply any situation to the measure: fear = wanting to feel safe; anger = wanting to feel safe; hope = wanting to feel safe; love = wanting to feel safe. It is all about safety. I experienced a new level of understanding and compassion deep inside. We have watched scenes unfold around the world this year of uprisings, violence, protests, wars, a pandemic and more. This is not the first time in history, of course, cue the Ancestors. I am not speaking about what is right or wrong, good or bad, choosing sides, or politics; I am sticking strictly to the idea of safety. Here in the U.S., there are multitudes of reactions to the scenes unfolding and to what we each experience. If we realize, in each instance, regardless of our opinion of it, people are asking for, often screaming for... safety. Not for humans only, safety is a basic need of all living creatures. Safety is being protected from harm, danger or risk. It includes everything from “basic” resources such as food, water, and shelter; to our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual safety. Racial equality, social equality, gender equality, health care equality, etc. are all issues of safety. Relationships you choose to have or to not have are informed by a sense of safety. Your hopes and dreams have an inherent quality of safety. Safety is the foundation and is held in the Root Chakra. When you think safety, your need and desire for it in all forms, you must realize others are doing the same. Has there ever been a time in the history of the world when safety was not at the forefront of life? Can you hold compassion in these moments for yourself and others? With compassion in my heart, I have been activating forgiveness for myself and all people, as we try to do our best at the time and hopefully keep leveling up.
