I am unexpectedly continuing the theme of safety in this newsletter. I had not planned to, but as I sat down to write, Spirit had other plans. I hope the experience I share with you is a reminder that our “lessons” continue to show up for us in a myriad of ways. This allows us to work on and experience them at deeper and higher levels until we achieve mastery. Sigh - bring it on! I am being super vulnerable and sharing my hard stuff. I hope it is helpful to you. I was working in my Akashic Records when my higher self stepped in and “we” began talking with one of my teachers. Health was on the agenda. Long story short, every few years (whenever I am about to go through a positive expansion or a big life change) I seem to have a health issue that involves pain that limits my mobility and ability to function well. The prescribed treatment involves steroids for extended periods. I am in one of these cycles now; I do not sleep, I am hungry, and it triggers a cycle of sugar cravings for false energy and comfort. In between these health issues, I am healthy, strong, and focused. Why is this a big deal? Working at my highest level with Spirit takes strength, stamina, clear energy, good health, and self-care. These cycles disrupt and challenge me and I do not like compromising myself or my work. I asked why, how, and what is going on while in my Records. Here comes the interesting part: my saboteur archetype shows up! I was surprised as this was new. Apparently, my saboteur, we all have one, is doing its job to keep me safe. However, the actions have the opposite result. My saboteur thinks this is helpful to me; keeping me safe means sabotaging me from getting out into the world without physical and energetic restrictions. To the archetype of the saboteur, if I am not feeling healthy, strong, and good then I am limited and not seen; I will be safe at home. This has its origins in past lives and is challenging for me in this lifetime as I engage with it to heal it. It makes so much sense seen from this Akashic perspective. My saboteur and I had a talk. I thanked this archetype for keeping me “safe.” I then explained how this behavior does not keep me safe; how it does the opposite. I stated what I need to be safe when considering health. I told my saboteur I needed it to help me sabotage habits and situations that limit or harm me. Keeping me strong, healthy, and powered up is the way to keep me safe. I now have greater understanding of why I am unable to hold some habits permanently. I realize how this archetype is working in my life with the misguided intention of keeping me safe. I can have compassion for myself; I know it’s not just me in judgement of having bad habits or a weak body. I understand now I can interact with this archetype to help it accomplish its goal of keeping me safe. We all have the saboteur archetype. Archetypes influence us. They work in our shadows and in our light. I am thankful my saboteur and I have met. I am curious to work consciously with it. We need to interact on a higher level to keep me safe by keeping me healthy, strong, and working hand in hand with Spirit. So, my friend, how does your saboteur show up in your life? Did you think sabotage was all about making it hard for you or creating failure? I did a little, but no longer. I plan on being close with my saboteur so we can coordinate a strike and sabotage the things I want to release. And we see again how everything is about safety. I first understood the idea of archetypes through literature, myths, fairy tales, and film. We use archetype references all the time: “she is a little princess,” “he is a knight in shining armor,” "the hero’s journey.” I furthered my understanding of archetypes reading Sacred Contracts by author Caroline Myss.
