Hello! “Do the hard things.” What does that even mean? Life throws us opportunities. Note that intended word choice: not challenges - although we get those too - and not icky stuff - although we get that too. Opportunities. What is your hard stuff? It’s okay to have things, traits, situations, in your life that are hard for you; we are here to learn after all. There were subjects in school I did not enjoy and were hard for me - the lessons from an evolution perspective are no different. Some content we will enjoy or dislike more than others, but at some point, we will interact with it and then interact with it again. January was a month I wanted to say “enough!” quite often. My word of the year is well-being. I have hit the well-being wall in several ways lately. I probably sprained something with the velocity of it. You know, the overwhelming sense of knowing everything and nothing at once and wanting to turn away from it even when you know you can’t. You must walk into that hot mess to walk out having realized a new layer of the lesson/content. Ugh. Can we go to bed and sleep 9 hours first? Apparently not. So, what do we do? There are many options, and you find the one that works for you. Ignore the one size fits all approach. It doesn’t consider the beautiful nuance of you. Here’s the deal. Not always but often, I’ve noticed, when things are about to take off, shift, or evolve, things get uncomfortable. By things, I refer to emotions, relationships, sense of self, etc. This is usually an indicator that something new is on the horizon and I am clearing old stuff as if I am reshuffling a card deck to bring new cards to the top of the deck. I begin dealing anew with new odds and new opportunities poised for integration into my life. Do you have to do this with every piece of something that comes up for you that feels uncomfortable? No. Choose your poison, as it were. Make your selection and go for it at a speed that feels right to you. At this point, you are being so beautifully supported by your Spirit team that things will begin opening for you, lining up, or whatever needs to happen to help you navigate the new understanding, the new opportunity, the adventure. You turned a challenge into an opportunity. The opportunity for expansion, evolution, and greater understanding is always there. You choose when to say yes to it. That’s reassuring, knowing it’s your choice and you have agency over your story and your life. I know sometimes it doesn’t feel like it, but you do I assure you. Well-being means many things to me. Presently, it means being clear on my emotions and what they are signaling to me. Next month I hope it means adding more roasted vegetables to my plate. But for now, I am eating chocolate and starting to work through the new content released in the lesson. Realizing I can no longer be the same person I was a couple of months ago, it is now an impossibility. I have done the hero’s journey yet again, and now I am different. You can be too. I bet you already are! What is in your line of vision? What is throwing you off, challenging you, or even making you want to scream and find the nearest blanket? Look at that and reflect on why? Then reflect again? Then take that opportunity and do your superhero switcharoo and go in – go all the way in – don’t be afraid. You don’t have to do it alone. Ask, ask, ask, and ask again for help.
